Thanksgiving
Activities and Printables
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. I feel like if I blink I will miss Christmas. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays as it truly kicks off the holiday season. Holidays were a huge affair growing up. I remember the huge Thanksgiving dinners with family and the growing anticipation for Christmas Day. My youngest son is 1 now so I am excited for this upcoming Christmas. But now I am getting ahead of myself. Christmas activities will be coming soon!! I found some interesting activities, lessons, and printables that your kiddos will love. There are resources available for 2-7 year olds. Some of the activities can be modified for older children as well.
Learning Resources

Five Little Turkey DIY Glove Puppets
Every Thanksgiving Toolbox (or what I like to call it) includes some version of the "Five Little Turkeys." I like this 5 Little Turkey Fingerplays with DIY glove puppets activity by Lessons 4 Learners. This activity is geared toward infants but older preschoolers will enjoy this activity as well.

First Thanksgiving Readers Theatre Activity for Preschool- 2nd Grade

I used reader theatre stories in my lessons when I taught Kindergarten many moons ago. My students loved to participate and take turns reading their lines. I was such a proud class mama when my students waited their turns and read their lines with confidence. I can't wait to hear my toddlers read some day! The post I read suggested this activity was for preschool but older children will be able to read the lines. Click here to download the activity.

Thanksgiving Songs
These are a few of my favorite Thanksgiving songs. I am currently teaching these songs to my preschoolers now. The Five Little Turkey songs have a printable that you can use to create puppets to retell the story. I found this cool sign language song as well. My students are currently learning basic sign language so this is right on time. Download your copy of the songs and printable at the end of the post.
